I'm afraid this group mainly use Chinese in discussion. but feel free ask question about web developing.

I plan to be machine learning engineer in the long term. So I'm afraid that if I learnt js, it would be waste of time, because I'll have to learn python anyway
I'd say Node.js has more resouce available in Web Development field even though node.js is also new in Web Development backend. But JavaScript has been part of Web Dev. front end. So Node.js(JS) had grown very strong recently.
Ah, by the way, if you interested in Web Develop, read MDN. Both JS and Python as Web develop have many good articles.
Python does has more manchine learning resource indeed. So yes, I also recommand you learn both language. those two language could be a very good companion to each other to solve problem you may face in future.
Up to you, for me I know PHP/Node.js/Python/Lua/Java ... etc. But I use PHP and Node.js usually.

Yes, it does offer you other jobs. But WEB, ML and Data Science are most common.

front end: UI desigen, Mock up, UI implement, CSS optimisation, JavaScript..etc
back end: Web Server, Database, backend programming, server maintanance...etc
We are not sure which filed you going to be woring on, and pherhaps you don't know yet, either. So it's quite unreleastic to say how much time you need to be a *Web Dev*
