<jfqueralt> Hi everyone.

At The IO Foundation we run a monthly event called TechUp with the ultimate goal of supporting the open source community and enable the next generation of Human and Digital Rights defenders: programmers.

We do this in a couple of ways:

- We find open source, civic tech projects that may be looking for support (from devs to other less commonly supported areas such as HR, comms, connections or finance) and try to put them in touch with people who may be able to help them. We are also working on establishing a structured approach to this that we call CrowdShape (to be released in the coming weeks) that we've been experimenting with one of our initiatives (Project Lockdown

- We run capacity building in 3 areas: tech skills, softskills and mapping.

The objective is to provide programmers with the skills they need to embrace their role as Rights defenders and to know where to start participating in the ecosystem (tech + civil society).

How can you help? Let us know if:

- You know of any OS project that is looking for support

- You are looking to support OS projects

- You know a community or organization that provides support to nonprofits or OS projects

TechUp runs monthly over 48h covering 3 time zone areas (Asia + Pacific, Africa + Europe, Americas).
