Enables Jumbo Packet capability for TCP/IP packets. In situations where large packets make up the majority of traffic and additional latency can be tolerated, Jumbo Packets can reduce CPU utilization and improve wire efficiency. Jumbo Packets are larger than standard Ethernet frames, which are approximately 1.5k in size. NOTE: Changing this setting may cause a momentary loss of connectivity. Usage Considerations Enable Jumbo Packets only if devices across the network support them and are configured to use the same frame size. When setting up Jumbo Packets on other network devices, note that different network devices calculate Jumbo Packet sizes differently. Some devices include the header information in the frame size while others do not. Intel® Ethernet Adapters do not include header information in the frame size. Using Jumbo Packets at 10 or 100 Mbps may result in poor performance or loss of link. When configuring Jumbo Packets on a switch you may need to increase the frame size over the adapter's setting. Set the switch's frame size four bytes higher for Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC), plus four bytes if you are using Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs) or priority/VLAN tagging.
